Tutorial: Introduction to Network Simulator 3 (ns-3)
As
stated in its home page, http://www.nsnam.org,
"ns-3 is intended as an eventual replacement for the popular ns-2
network simulator". ns3 still lacks some features (e.g. RED
router queue), while others are better than
ns2 or were inexistent (e.g. wi-fi, use of linux network
stack, pcap output, much faster execution).
The goal of
this tutorial is to introduce you to ns-3 simulation.
This tutorial is intended mainly to people who already know
ns-2.

Participants will receive printed copies of the slides used during the
course and scenario examples.
Every participant should come with his own laptop. The laptop
should have:
- either linux (with gcc)
- or, if windows/mac, with cygwin or a linux virtual machine
(by the way, the same conditions applied for the old ns2
network simulator too).
Date: 19
February 2009 (second day of the PDP conference), 14h-18h
Place: at the PDP 2009 conference site.
Description
of the tutorial:
- 1h45 hours theoretical course
- 0h15 coffee break
- 2h lab work: ns3 installation on your own laptop, network
scenario execution, network scenario creation.
Price: 100€, including tutorial, printed documents
and coffee
break. We invite you to register to the euromicro registration Web page.
